My 365 days of art completed for 2006

One year of creating a piece of art a day - 365 works of art completed with the book of Sagittarius. My art is all paperworks of 3 1/2" x 5 1/2" or smaller. They're all individual paper works that i glued into 12 piano hinge books of the same size, and they are named for the 12 signs of the zodiac.

As i scan through the books i can see how my art has grown over the course of the year and all are undeniably mine. I began this project with the sign of Capricorn on Dec 22, 2005, and finished today (3 days early, out of necessity) I can see the different phases i went through, from rubber stamping to playing with window clingers and gel pens to collage and most recently to acrylic paintings with the odd collage thrown in.

There were times when i grew behind (on vacation)and there were times when i got ahead (planning ahead for vacation) as well as the times when i created for the current day. There were times when i was ill, times in the summer when it was just too hot to do art, busy times and times when my muse was absent and a lot of times when blogger wouldnt co-operate and those were the worst of times. Otherwise it all went smoothly and i'm so glad i took this challenge, stuck with it and finished it.

All in all it was a very positive experience and one i might keep up. The 12 piano hinge books turned out to be great idea, however in the future i'd stick with the books being named for the regular months.

Thanks Rachel and the members of the daily devotions group for the inspiration and support over the last year. This will be my last post here and if i make the commitment to create 365 pieces of art in 2007 i'll make another blog for it.
